The centers operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Vehicles must arrive before 4:30 p.m. to be admitted. Prohibited items include hazardous waste, medical waste, ammunition, and firearms, among others. Each vehicle is limited to under two tons, and trailers up to 40 feet combined length are accepted. Mattresses, pallets, railroad ties, tires, and construction debris have quantity restrictions. Exceeding these limits requires disposal at Cerro Colorado Landfill. A disposal fee of $5.25 per load is charged for excess trash, yard waste, and large items, with additional fees for unsecured loads.
