Rio Rancho Recycle opened in March 2012 as the sister company of Albuquerque's ACME Iron and Metal, which has more than 50 years in the metro. The yard at 110 Frontage Road NE buys aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, steel, stainless, tin, car batteries, engine blocks with the oil pan removed, catalytic converters, electric motors, compressors, and appliances. The crew speaks English and Spanish. The yard turns away beer kegs, burnt wire, cardboard, glass, plastics, tires, TVs, printers, microwaves, railroad and utility-owned scrap, and city, county, or state property. This location does not buy whole cars. It serves Corrales, Bernalillo, Placitas, Santa Ana Pueblo, Zia Pueblo, and the Albuquerque metro, and it is one of five drop-off sites in the group.

Review

Terrible service from their manager. I showed up before their posted closing time and the supposed manager sad they stop taking tin at 4:15 because they saw my old garage doors (which are aluminum) and thought they were made of tin. Never going back besides Acme pays more. Integrity is non existing here. I recommend going elsewhere.

Took 2648 lbs of solid metal (weighed on a scale that was calibrated and certified) from an old 38 international Harvester crawler semi leaf springs and car frames because when I called them less than a half hour earlier they told me it was 80 cents a pound. When I got there they don't let you see the weigh on scales and after wanted to give me price for tin with is .04 cents and said I had 2100 lbs. Anyone that thinks they made bulldozers out of tin in 1938 would also think car frames and semi leaf springs are tin as well. I understand being stupid the scale weights cant be chalked up to stupidity that is more scandalous and debating on having B B.B determine if they are to stupid and scandalous to legally operate anything besides a can opener
