About this center

The Buckman Road Recycling & Transfer Station, known as BuRRT, takes trash, drop-off recycling, green waste, scrap metal, appliances, scrap tires, electronics, and construction and demolition debris from Santa Fe County. The City of Santa Fe owns the site and the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency operates it. The station opens daily, with household hazardous waste drop-off on Fridays and Saturdays for Santa Fe residents only. It refuses out-of-county waste, lead-acid batteries, hazardous and radioactive waste, bulk liquids, and self-dumping trailers. A livestream camera of the entrance shows the line before a trip, and size limits apply to lumber, concrete, stumps, and loads over 12,500 pounds gross vehicle weight.

Unclear instructions. Wait a long time in only one line. They should have two lines. One for the heavy trucks and one for the smaller items. I only had a coffee maker I wanted to recycle - not only would I be paying $6.50 to recycle this appliance but I had to sit in the same line as the large trucks. When I got to the window again no instructions no one opened the window at which point I didn’t know what to do. I drove to the administration building. They were kind yet told me I had to get back in line? The way this is run doesn’t encourage people doing the right thing. Coffee maker is going to the dump now.

Don't 5 starts if you come one time..wait until the next. The old guy either in the enter or exit window wanted me to pay 15 dollars penalty for not having a cover on top of some pieces of concrete in my truck. I got it. but he said that even that if I go and put a tarp come back tomorrow or right now he will charge me the penalty anyways. If someone else is there they probably wont recognize me so I probably won't pay the extra $15.
