Bryan Spagnola (3/5 stars, 3 months ago): We brought in 218 lbs of #1 and 42 lbs of #2 copper and the prices were the lowest i have seen all year. I have been to about 30 different scrap yards in 8 different states this year. They all have different prices obviously but they have all been between $3.40 to $3.80 a lbs for #2 copper. With one place in Denver paying $4.08 a lbs. I still got all my pay stubs as referance/proof. This place however only paid $2.85 for #2 and $3.00 for #1. Putting their prices at the lowest of all I been to this year. This is so far the only one we have been to in the state of NM. So I'll be comparing them to other in the state soon. Update: I took my next load to "Albuquerque Metal Recycling " which isn't too much farther away. Their prices for #2 copper is $3.10 which is still on the vary low end. It is better however if your load is mostly copper or aluminum. I'm doing the math on my last load ( it wasn't a big load) I made an extra $65.00 going the extra 14 miles out of my way. Ultimately this won't always be the case as prices everywhere fluctuate. If you want the best prices and if your load is large enough sometimes one or the other will be a better option. Need to call ahead of your visit to find out.
