About This Center
Salt Lake City's Sustainability Department is dedicated to achieving a Zero Waste SLC while delivering refuse service responsibly and efficiently. They aim to protect natural resources, reduce pollution, slow climate change, and enhance community resiliency and vitality. The department offers services such as curbside collection of garbage, recycling, and compost cans, with a recent change in collection day starting February 3, 2025. They provide information on what materials belong in the blue recycling bin and the brown compost bin, as well as updates on garbage rates. Additionally, initiatives like Clean Air SLC distribute equipment and information to improve air quality in communities and homes, while the Community Electrified Transportation Study informs an equitable transition to electrified transportation. The Greater Salt Lake Area Clean Energy and Air Roadmap aims to develop clean energy solutions, and the Sustainability Department has received awards for their efforts in promoting human rights and sustainability. Visitors to the recycling directory website can find valuable information on sustainable practices, waste management, and community initiatives in Salt Lake City.

Tamara Hall (5/5 stars, a year ago): Love the row of garbage cans full of goodies. Me and my friends got to have leftover dinner and I was able to recycle 50 aluminum trays for $0. I do love the red light I got. Used it for camping to light up my Banshee. I will use it for a memorial as He is sold just to survive this GREAT place.

Sean Arnold (1/5 stars, 4 years ago): Unprofessional and poor quality. While I was bicycling to work this morning I almost got hit by one of their truck (9/24/2020). The truck number is 26065. Very aggressive driving and doesn't follow the traffic rules.
