West Hartford Recycling Center

The West Hartford Yard Waste and Recycling Center is a municipal facility exclusively serving West Hartford residents. An annual permit is required for access and can be purchased online or in-person at the Public Works Department for $20 per year. The center accepts a range of materials including yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, brush, branches), clean wood, mattresses and box springs, electronics (e-waste), textiles and clothing, scrap metal, and various household recyclables. Free compost is available to permit holders for personal use in limited quantities - a valuable resource for gardeners. The facility operates as a self-service drop-off center where residents must load and unload their own vehicles. Commercial waste is strictly prohibited. Residents need to present a valid vehicle registration and utility bill showing a West Hartford address to obtain a permit.
