About This Center
The Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center (WARC) in Washington offers various recycling services, but has suspended its used cooking oil and plastic foam recycling programs due to new guidelines and legal restrictions. Residents are advised to solidify used cooking oil before disposal and to check the Household Hazardous Waste page for more details. The center is also exploring the development of a new transfer station in the southern part of the county to replace existing drop-box sites in Rainier and Rochester. Visitors are encouraged to secure their loads when transporting materials to the WARC, following Washington state laws, and to check the average traffic levels at the center to plan their visit efficiently. For curbside waste collection services, residents are directed to contact specific service providers based on their area of residence.

Leo (5/5 stars, a year ago): Friendly with a great helpful attitude. The people working there act like they really enjoy their jobs. Newer to the area and this was my first trip. Got confused a bit and ended up in the wrong spot. Juan came over and helped direct me to the correct parking slot. He also helped with brochures regarding other places to take household hazardous waste and items not accepted at drop-box facilities. Enjoyed the visit!

I think it better to drop it all off at the county compleax and let them sort it. Very disappointing program especially for those that care. One employee simply told me to throw styrofoam in the trash bc that is what we do with it anyway. Wow!
