About This Center

The Middletown Recycling Center, located at 185 Johnson Street, Middletown, accepts recyclable materials and bulk waste generated in Middletown, but does not accept regular household trash. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 2:45 PM, with additional hours on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 7 AM to 11:45 AM during December to March and July to August, and every Saturday from 7 AM to 11:45 AM from April to June and September to November. Only Middletown taxpayers can use the center, and starting July 1, 2023, residents must obtain a vehicle window sticker to gain entry, available at the Department of Public Works or via an online form. The center does not accept materials like asphalt, concrete, or clean fill, and limits loads to two tons per visit. For larger loads, residents are directed to private facilities. The Swap Shack is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and Wednesdays from 12 PM to 2 PM, allowing residents to exchange items.

I had driven an hour in my truck to help a friend and was so bummed. But the friendly sanitation employee saw our plight and allowed us to dump our compostables. Love you!
