The City of Thornton offers a convenient one-container recycling program for residents, with drop-off locations at the Thornton Municipal Service Center and the Infrastructure Maintenance Center. Accepted items include flattened cardboard, magazines, office paper, glass bottles, aluminum cans, plastic containers #1-7, and more. Not accepted are items like plastic bags, scrap metal, styrofoam, electronics, textiles, and appliances. Additionally, Thornton provides a one-time free pick-up service for flattened moving boxes for new residents, and mattress disposal can be arranged through Spring Back Colorado for a fee. Visitors are reminded to avoid contamination by only placing eligible items in the recycling container and to avoid plastic bags.
