The City of Auburn's Recycling Drop-Off Center is a municipal facility open 24 hours a day, year round, operated by Auburn Environmental Services. Auburn became the first municipality in Alabama to offer curbside recycling in 1987, and established this drop-off center alongside a compost demonstration in 1999 so residents can recycle at any time. The city also runs single-stream curbside recycling for garbage-service subscribers and holds a document shredding event twice a year. Note: during construction of the Boykin Donahue Campus project (expected to finish fall 2026) the drop-off center has temporarily moved to 640 Mary Brooks Drive.
