During Daylight Saving Time, Wednesday hours extend into the evening (to 7:00 PM from March 11 through September 15, 2026, and to 6:00 PM from September 16 through October 28, 2026). The facility is closed on town holidays. Residents are encouraged to visit on weekdays to expedite their trip.

Do I need a permit to use the Transfer Station?

Yes. A Refuse Disposal Permit is required and may be obtained in person at the Transfer Station, the Bulky Waste Facility, or Town Hall during normal operating hours. The residential food waste collection program also requires a permit.

Paint and stain are not accepted at the Transfer Station; residents can drop off oil and latex paint for free year-round (5-gallon limit per visit) at Katz Hardware or Sherwin-Williams in Glastonbury through PaintCare. This is one of Glastonbury's must see destinations! An epic arrangement of trash and recycling containers! Use car batteries got it scrap steel copper appliances they got em covered! Way less expensive than those waste pickup bandits! Friendly staff and a great place to say hello to your neighbors!
