City of Helena Transfer Station - Recycling Center in Helena, MT

I have several permits from multiple places we manage and have used the transfer station for several years. Years ago when they went through all the improvements they went out of their way to be helpful during a challenging time and the staff were amazing. However the staff I have interacted with recently are no longer pleasant to deal with. They can’t (or won’t) tell you how much weight you have left on a pass (‘call the office and get off the scale’ is the standard response) but they will sure send you a bill if you go over your limit. They won’t or can’t split the weight onto 2 different passes if one is full and tell you it’s your responsibility to write down and track how much weight you bring in. When I asked one guy plastered a form on the weigh station window. I assume it was a tracking form for recording weights and then (literally) he proceeded to start yelling for me to get off the scale when I wrote the weight on my own papers. Probably lots of great people work there but the ones I have interacted with recently have not been pleasant people to work with.

Everyone is so nice. Loving the new terminals....just wish some of the guys in the bays were more helpful at times. A few of the guys are awesome...a few would rather watch a girl struggle with heavy things. Overall very well run.

The employees are pleasant and helpful. One helped me raise a heavy metal gate on a rented trailer that I was unable to lift on my own. Very impressive.
