The East Central Solid Waste Commission runs this sanitary landfill at Minnesota Highway 23 and County Road 60 in Mora, one of three ECSWC sites alongside the Hinckley and Cambridge transfer stations. The commission serves Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties. It takes household and demolition waste and recycles appliances, tires, electronics, scrap metal, and mattresses. The commission office and scale house sit here, and the board meets at 9 a.m. on the second Monday of each month. Only the five member counties plus Aitkin send waste here, and Minnesota statute keeps metro waste out of every ECSWC facility. CRT televisions and monitors are banned from the landfill. Asbestos is accepted only on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with prior approval, wetted, bagged, and labeled. Deer carcasses go in separate dumpsters, and burn barrels are turned in at no cost.

The Bergfalk family bought a small Rush City recycling company in June 2007, and it now employs 13 people and averages about 20,000 mattresses, 300,000 pounds of electronics, and 700 tons of scrap a year over the last four years. Mattresses, electronics, tires, and household and commercial appliances are the core streams, and the yard buys aluminum, copper, brass, and lead-acid automotive and marine batteries at market price. There is no drive-on scale, so steel is not purchased and comes in as a free drop-off. Minnesota requires a copper sellers license to sell copper. The crew also picks up recyclables and cleans up properties at homes, farms, and businesses. The building runs on a 19.1 kW solar installation and heats with converted used oil, and the yard is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday morning.
