Dakota County Recycling Zone

The Recycling Zone is Dakota County's household hazardous waste and electronics drop-off, run by the county in Eagan. It is where residents take the household products that don't belong in the trash or the curbside bin, and for Dakota County residents most items are accepted free of charge. Household hazardous waste accepted includes paint, aerosols, antifreeze, gasoline, household cleaners, lawn and garden chemicals, pool and spa chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, all types of batteries (single-use, rechargeable, button cell, and auto), propane and helium cylinders, fire extinguishers, mercury thermometers, and home sharps. On the electronics side they take computers and peripherals, printers, fax machines, DVD and VCR players, and game consoles, with all data destroyed to U.S. Department of Defense standards. Flattened cardboard is accepted too, and a Reuse Zone offers leftover paint and usable products free to residents. Most items are free; there is a $10 fee for each TV or monitor, plus a fee for tires. Bring a photo ID (staff scan the barcode on the back) and stay in your vehicle while staff unload from the trunk. The Recycling Zone is at 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan and is open Wednesday 9 AM to 8 PM, Thursday noon to 8 PM, Friday 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM.
