The Wheatland Solid Waste Transfer Station in the Town of Wheatland, Platte County, opened in 2017, replacing the old landfill. The station provides each residence with a 96-gallon rolling can or access to a 300-gallon shared dumpster for trash disposal, with specific guidelines on where to place the containers for collection. Prohibited items for disposal include construction debris, hazardous waste, appliances, furniture, shingles, carpet, metal, mattresses, and ashes. Green waste collection sites are available for grass clippings, leaves, and small branches, with plastic bags strictly prohibited.
