East Bethel Recycling center
The Recycling Center is located at 2761 Viking Boulevard NE, near the intersection of Viking Boulevard County Road 22 and East Bethel Boulevard County Road 15 next to Fire Station 1. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acceptable materials include aluminum beverage cans, steel food cans, antifreeze, appliances (excluding electronics, tires, and TVs), automotive batteries, clothing drop box, corrugated cardboard (flattened), glass (food/beverage bottles, jars), mixed paper (junk mail, magazines, catalogs), newspaper (supplements, phone books), scrap metal (free of plastic, glass, wood, rubber, no electronics or TVs), used oil, and used oil filter. Not accepted are plastic or wood items. Recycling at this center saves energy significantly, such as 90% less energy for an aluminum can from recycled aluminum compared to new metal, 50% less energy for glass from recycled glass, 75% less energy for paper from virgin wood pulp, and roughly 10% of the energy for recycling plastics compared to making them from virgin materials. Additionally, residents can recycle old vehicles through Wheels for Wishes, a charity that benefits local children's charities in Minnesota by picking up old vehicles for free and recycling or auctioning them. For old cell phones, eyeglasses, or printer cartridges, visitors can bring them to City Hall during business hours for recycling.
