The Morton Township Recycling Center, located at 8560 Midstate Drive in Mecosta, MI, offers recycling services to Township residents. The center is open every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and on Wednesdays in the summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Materials accepted include glass bottles or jars (clear and colored food or beverage glass), mail & office paper (shredded paper in clear plastic bags, staples are OK), paperboard, cardboard, newspaper, phone books, magazines (flatten boxes, remove plastic bags), plastic shopping bags (empty, clean & dry), 1 - 7 plastics (wash clean, labels are OK), and metal cans & foil (wash clean, labels are OK). Unacceptable items include electronics, plastic caps & lids, Styrofoam, foam packing material, batteries, scrap metal, tools, screws or hardware, propane or helium tanks, paint cans, pots, pans or silverware, ceramics, dishes, paper plates & napkins, windows, doors or mirrors, paper cartons & juice boxes, label or sticker paper, plastic-coated or waxy paper, spiral-bound notebooks, books, pet food bags, glitter, ribbon or embellishments, photographs, greasy or dirty paper, and hazardous substance containers.
