Connecticut-marked containers are redeemed at this certified center on Hilliard Street in Manchester. Three partners opened it in 1988. It takes aluminum cans, glass beer bottles, and plastic bottles for water, soda, juice, sports drinks, and tea. Automatic counters run 200 to 400 empties a minute. Cans and plastic go in separate clear bags, supplied free: 200 cans, 100 water bottles, 100 twenty-ounce sodas, 50 one-liter bottles, or 30 two-liter bottles per bag. Beer and soda glass stays in original 12, 18, 20, 24, or 48 packs, or banana boxes. Loose glass and six-packs are refused. Poland Springs and Nestle water bottles are bagged alone, 100 to a bag. Stop and Shop, BJs, Shop-rite, Sam's Club, Walmart, and Aldi bottles mix together. Large fundraising loads get a free truck and supplies. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on major holidays.
