About This Center

The Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station, also known as the SMaRT Station, located at 301 Carl Road in Sunnyvale 94089, serves residents and businesses of Sunnyvale and Mountain View by accepting garbage and recycling materials. Operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, with closures on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Visitors must ensure that all open loads are covered and secured to avoid a fee of $15 for uncovered loads. The facility accepts a variety of waste materials such as household discards, green waste, clean wood debris, and recyclables like aluminum cans, glass bottles, paper, and electronics. Hazardous waste, liquids, treated wood, and certain construction materials are not accepted. Residents can access compost and mulch, as well as participate in the CRV Buy-back Center for eligible beverage containers. Additionally, a Reuse Trailer offers furniture and items rescued from the facility for free. Visitors can schedule a tour of the Materials Recovery Facility by calling the provided number.

Items I to recycle are to be sorted via these bjns marked for plastic glass metal sharps etc. they also allow one to recycle paint but the paint has to be liquid not dried and the original label needs to be on the paint. They did check my license at the gate to make sure I was a Santa Clara resident. One can also pick up compost for free at the site. There do not recycle hazardous liquids need to go to a different place and they also do not take trash.
