Frequently asked questions
Who can use the Environmental Collection Center?
Fort Worth residents and residents of participating cities. Proof of residence — a current water bill or valid driver's license — is required. Some participating entities also require residents to obtain a voucher before visiting; check with your local officials.
What are the hours of operation?
The ECC is open Thursday and Friday 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM–3:00 PM. It is closed Sunday through Wednesday.
How should I prepare my waste before dropping it off?
Leave products in their original, labeled containers — no trash bags. If a container is unlabeled, label it clearly. Place leaking containers inside a second container of like material (glass for corrosives, metal for flammables). Secure items in your trunk or truck bed and remain in your vehicle so staff can unload.
What is the Help-Yourself Shelf?
The ECC offers a Help-Yourself Shelf where chemicals, cleaners, and paint still in like-new condition are available free of charge. If you have a usable product, you can drop it off there for others to take rather than disposing of it.

The process is simple. You drive into the building following the signs and pull up to the guy with a computer. You show them your ID to confirm you're in the Ft Worth or Tarrant area and some guys get the appropriate recyclable items from your trunk. Then you drive out. The entrance to the facility is not clearly marked as I had to drive around. I tried to enter thru Dairy Lane at the traffic light but that was not the best route and I had to circle back. It's best to enter on Bridge Street. Also check ahead on their website for what they take. There's also a big list posted before you drive into the bulding.

A line of 7 cars formed at 11 am on Friday when they opened. The speed of service was fast efficient and friendly. They took my left over old house paint stereo receiver and a tire. You are asked to stay in the vehicle and they do the rest in terms of taking the items out of your car. Highly recommended

Super easy. In and out service. Max 30 gallons of paint once per month. I really like that all I had to do was pull up and they unloaded my car. I didn't need to lift a finger
