Edison Automotive Parts & Scrap buys wrecked, damaged, totaled and non-running cars, trucks and vans at its McKinley Avenue yard in Columbus and pays in cash, not checks. Sellers get a quote by phone, the car gets picked up, and the cash follows. The yard keeps the buy local, so a purchased vehicle becomes parts for Columbus drivers rather than only scrap for a distant steel mill. Parts buyers have two routes. The U-Pull-It yard lets customers remove parts from junk cars themselves at a discount, or they buy items already pulled and shelved: wheels, rims, some alternators, starters, engines and transmissions. A separate tire department stocks hundreds of pre-priced used tires and wheels. The yard is open Monday through Saturday, with shorter Saturday hours, and stops admitting U-Pull-It customers 30 minutes before closing.
