About this center

The City of East Lansing runs this drop-off site at the Department of Public Works, 1800 E. State Road, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week under camera surveillance. High-capacity compactors replaced the old open roll-offs. A commingled compactor takes plastics, glass in all colors, paper, boxboard, cartons, paper cups, and metal cans and foil, while a separate cardboard compactor takes flattened, dry cardboard and pizza boxes. A metal roll-off takes clean aluminum and steel cans, foil, and foil trays, and a foam area takes rigid polystyrene blocks and coolers but no packing peanuts. Plastic bags and film, bulky plastics, wood, garbage, household hazardous waste, electronics, and batteries stay out. A stream shuts without notice when its compactor is full or being serviced.
