About this center
Central Connecticut Recycling & Transfer, known as CCRT, runs the construction and demolition transfer station at 22 Burton Drive in Cheshire with AJ Waste Systems, a family-owned hauler in the area since 1960. The site took over bulky drop-off after the town transfer station closed. Contractors use it Monday through Friday, and Connecticut residents get access on Saturdays from 8 to 1, cash only.
Residential drop-off is charged by weight in tiers, with separate per-item fees for white goods and large appliances, tires, brown-bagged grass and leaves, brush, cardboard, and metal loads. Electronics up to seven items carry no fee. Mattresses are not accepted. AJ Waste Systems also delivers roll-off containers and front-load dumpsters across Cheshire, Greater Waterbury, Southington, North Haven, and Hamden.
