About This Center

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury operates two Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers in Lake Charles and Sulphur, Louisiana, where residents can dispose of large waste items not suitable for regular trash bins and bring sorted recyclable items at no extra cost. The centers are open Thursday to Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as on most parish holidays. Residents must present a valid driver's license to verify residency. Guidelines include no commercial or industrial waste, a limit of five tires per person per day, draining fluids from motors and tanks, and removing rims from tires. Recyclable items accepted include aluminum cans, steel cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, cardboard, and more, while items like asbestos siding, medical waste, and painted wood are not accepted. Visitors are encouraged to sort their recyclables properly and follow the guidelines for waste disposal.
