Austin Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center
About This Center
The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center in Austin offers a variety of services for residents to recycle, reuse, or safely discard items. Residents can drop off household hazardous waste such as cleaning products, automotive fluids, paint, batteries, and more, but radioactive materials, syringes, and explosive materials are not accepted. The center also accepts electronics, appliances, recyclables like clothing, plastic, metal, glass, and paper, but does not take mattresses, furniture, tires, or non-recyclable trash. There is a fee for dropping off tires, and specific safety guidelines are provided for handling hazardous waste. Additionally, visitors can pick up free items at the Reuse Store, including art supplies, cleaning products, and Austin ReBlend Paint. Mulch is also available for free pickup, but visitors must load it themselves. Appointments are required for dropping off hazardous waste and picking up paint.

Roger Naughton (1/5 stars, a month ago): I love the convenience and think it's a great service. However I'd like to make a complaint that the Styrofoam crushing machine was releasing LOTS of concentrated stryrene gas (literally yellow gas billowing out the machine). This is a highly toxic and carcinogenic gas. The man packing the Styrofoam into the machine should never put up with this (poor guy). The issue here is that the machine is overused and overheating causing the Styrofoam to melt upon contact with the metal. Y'all need to invest in a 2nd machine. When the 1st one gets too hot switch it off and move to the other. Expecting the shift workers (and public) to be exposed to illegal amounts of styene gas is pure negligence. Thanks for taking my concerns into account.
