Anoka County Household Hazardous Waste Facility
About This Center
The Anoka County Household Hazardous Waste Facility accepts various household hazardous waste items from residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties free of charge. Accepted items include aerosol cans, antifreeze, automotive batteries, fluorescent bulbs, gasoline, household batteries, paint, pesticides, propane tanks, used motor oil, and more. Residents must bring proof of residency, such as a driver's license. Not accepted items include appliances, electronics, tires, and radioactive wastes. Safe transportation tips include not mixing products, sealing containers tightly, and placing containers upright in sturdy boxes. The facility guidelines specify that only households from specific counties can use the facility, and businesses are not allowed to dispose of waste there. Residents should remain in their vehicles upon arrival and wear masks, with items stored in the trunk, truck bed, or trailer. Staff will assist in unloading items, and longer wait times are expected. Household hazardous waste is defined, and it's emphasized that business hazardous waste is strictly regulated. Veolia ES Technical Solutions, L.L.C. operates the facility under contract to Anoka County.

Once you enter the lot there is a sign to drive around to the back. Follow the yellow line on the road and it will lead you to the far left garage. There is a sign on the right hand side to drive slowly into the garage and park the car. There was someone there who asked for my license. Afterwards I handed him my used oils and I was good to go. For the convenience of both parties it’s better to place your items in your trunk and just open your trunk for them once you arrive. Great service!

Randy Backous (5/5 stars, 6 years ago): I had a lot of oil fluorescent bulbs and bug killer that had been accumulating for years in my garage and they took it all off of my hands in 4 minutes. This is an excellent facility very well run and friendly. Now I know I don't need to store this junk forever. I arrived in the evening so it was dark and I'm not sure if there is signage or not but just Drive slowly around to the back of the building and you'll see the entrance garage. You pull up show them your license stay in the car and they do the rest. Absolutely excellent. Well done Anoka County!

Jackie Pedersen (5/5 stars, 2 years ago): I visited the reuse center that is open to the public and was very impressed with the variety and quality of items available for FREE. The entire time I was there they continued to bring out more items and keep the shelves stocked. Even pointing out and recommending items to try. This will be a monthly if not weekly stop I make moving forward.
