The Drop-Off Station on East Ellsworth Road is the public drop-off division of Recycle Ann Arbor, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has run recycling for the Ann Arbor area for more than 45 years. Every visit starts at a gatehouse where an attendant assesses the load, collects fees, and routes drivers through a mostly one-way flow: household recyclables go in the indoor Barn, while landfill waste, yard waste, metal, and tires go to the outdoor Hill. Traditional recyclables like paper, cardboard, glass, metal cans, and plastics 1, 2, and 5 carry no recycling fee beyond the daily gate fee. Motor oil, antifreeze, vegetable oil, foam, and plastic bags are taken as hard-to-recycle items, and electronics, appliances, tires, bulbs, and secure document and hard drive shredding cost extra. The station accepts credit cards only and opens Tuesday through Saturday.

The yard hands out engine hoists and wheelbarrows free and sells tool sets to anyone who forgot theirs. Parts carry a 45-day exchange, with store credit rather than cash refunds. Jacks, torches, and grinders are banned, and entry closes 30 minutes before the yard does. Parts Galore also buys running and non-running cars when the seller holds the title, and it sells used tires, reconditioned batteries, and cheap used cars. It opens seven days a week.
