Colt Scrap Tire Center in Scott is licensed by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality as a scrap tire processor and transporter. Incorporated in 1994 with a Gulf Coast focus, Colt is also permitted as a waste tire transporter in Texas and Mississippi and runs a second facility in New Orleans. Colt, Inc. is now part of Liberty Tire Recycling, and the Scott leadership and sales team stayed on. The Scott plant processes more than 150,000 automobile, truck, and off-road tires a month and remediates unauthorized tire piles in Louisiana. The state allows five tires per person per day; larger loads need advance notice. Hauling tires in Louisiana otherwise requires a waste tire transporter permit. The Scott office also picks up offshore and cleanup tires outside the Louisiana Tire Program. Hours at 1223 Delhomme Avenue are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
