How to Recycle Eyeglasses
Prescription glasses, readers, and frames. A reuse program rather than a recycling one, and one where the commonly listed drop-off points are out of date.
Quick answer
Donate them to Lions Recycle For Sight, which has exactly three routes: participating Walmart Vision Centers, some local Lions clubs, and mail-in to a Lions recycling center. Prescription lenses are genuinely reused rather than scrapped, so send whole pairs. LensCrafters and OneSight no longer take used glasses, whatever older guides say; they solicit money.
- Recyclable
- Not curbside
- 1Send whole pairs rather than separating lenses from frames, since complete pairs are what get reused
- 2Look for a collection box at a participating Walmart Vision Center
- 3Call a local Lions club before turning up, since Lions itself says to ask first
