About this center
The Clark Road Transfer Station is the Town of Washington's primary collection site for household trash and recyclables. Residents get access with a vehicle sticker from the Tax Office, and drop-off recycling follows the Connecticut single stream system, with cardboard flattened and food containers rinsed.
A site map shows separate areas for glass, composting, household waste, metal, demolition debris, mattresses, e-waste, tires and car batteries, textiles, Red Cross clothing, books, and a swap shop. The station is open 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, closes Thursday, Sunday, and town holidays, and shuts the lower gate at 1:55 PM. Free curbside recycling pickup also runs every other Monday for residents who sign up.

It sure why but I got reamed out by one of the ladies here because I pulled up at 1:35 to drop off trash and recycling - and they close at 2 PM? She told me “for future reference you should be here by 1:30”?? This was on Wednesday and they are closed on Thursday and Friday and again Monday for a holiday? I’ve only ever had positive interactions with the folks that work here and pleasant conversations - not sure what’s changed - but someone needs a coaching on customer service and interactions with residents…..
