About this center

The Town of North Haven Recycling/Transfer Center is a municipal drop-off site at 90 Elm Street, adjacent to the North Haven Racquet Club, for North Haven residents only. It accepts mixed paper, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, rinsed #1-#7 plastics, glass, metal cans, and crankcase oil, along with metal and white goods, upholstered furniture and mattresses, tires (2 without rims per visit), wood and brush, and leaves and grass. No permit is currently required, but residents must show a valid photo ID with a North Haven address to the attendant. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Who can use the North Haven Recycling/Transfer Center?

It is solely for North Haven residents. Until further notice no permit is needed, but you must show the attendant a valid photo ID with a North Haven address.

What are the hours of operation?

Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

What recyclables and items are accepted?

Mixed paper, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, rinsed #1-#7 plastic containers, glass, metal cans, and uncontaminated waste oil. Residents may also drop off metal and white goods, upholstered items, up to 2 tires without rims per visit, wood and brush, and leaves and grass.

What is not accepted at the center?

Construction and demolition debris, car parts, concrete and bricks, hazardous waste, and tree stumps with root balls. Commercial vehicles and mason dump trucks are not permitted, and the site only accommodates 3/4-ton or smaller pickups, passenger cars, vans, or station wagons.

Love going to recycling center to drop off grass leaves cardboard etc guys working there are always helping very well run easy to drop off

I was a little leery after reading reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the experience. I probably approached 3 people over the course of a week; and was treated well each time getting the information I needed to complete my tasks.
