Recycling centers in Mesquite

Callahan Auto Parts sells used parts from a yard on Lakeside Road, with an online inventory of cars and parts plus a selection of engines and transmissions. Specials rotate by weekday, Monday through Thursday, and members get a newsletter with weekly discount coupons. The yard also buys junk cars and runs a cash-for-junk-cars program. Customers walk the vehicles themselves, and access to the vehicles closes 30 minutes before the yard does.

Every bag of yard waste collected in Mesquite ends up at the Municipal Composting Facility on Lawson Road, south of Cartwright Road, where it is broken down into finished compost and mulch. A roadside sign at 3550 Lawson Road marks the site as the Municipal Compost Facility and Citizen's Convenience Center, open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sundays and observed holidays. Finished compost and mulch are free to Mesquite residents, once a month, up to two cubic yards of compost and four cubic yards of mulch. Residents show a Texas driver's license with a Mesquite address and a City of Mesquite utility bill as proof of residency. Non-residents and commercial businesses buy compost and mulch by the cubic yard.
