The station is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at both entrances, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday using the Shady Grove Road entrance only. The main entrance is at 16101 Frederick Road, Derwood; the truck entrance is at 16055 Shady Grove Road, Gaithersburg.
Who can use the Transfer Station?
Only material generated within Montgomery County is accepted. All residents must provide proof of County residency, and commercial customers must verify their load originated in the County. No commercial vehicles are allowed on Sundays - Sunday is for residents only.
What does it cost and how can I pay?
Charges depend on the material and are set by the Transfer Station fee schedule; all loads over 500 lbs must be weighed at the scales and pay the required fee. They accept debit cards, credit cards (including American Express), and corporate accounts. Cash and checks are not accepted.
Does the Transfer Station accept car parts or offer paper shredding?
