Operations began at the Davis Material Recovery and Transfer Facility located in Layton, Utah, in June 2020. Non-recyclable plastics and some paper are used to create an engineered fuel. The facility does not accept large tires, vehicles, or appliances, and it is not open to the general public. Visitors can tour the facility by scheduling in advance. The landfill operates with different hours in summer and winter, and the facility does not accept vehicles, large tires, or appliances. Residents can drop off household hazardous waste and electronic waste at designated times, and the landfill also offers compost and wood chips for sale. Special waste disposal services are available with advance arrangements required. The facility does not accept business hazardous waste, and there are specific guidelines for dropping off green waste for recycling. The thrift store at the facility operates on specific days and accepts donations.
