EMR's Port Allen yard, branded Southern Recycling, sits at 1367 Mahaffey Road just outside the Port of Baton Rouge. From I-10, drivers follow the LA 1 South signs toward the port, turn onto Mahaffey Road, and find the yard entrance about half a mile along on the left. Inside the gate, non-ferrous loads turn left and ferrous loads turn right.
The yard buys iron, steel, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, lead, junk cars, catalytic converters, auto batteries, appliances, and small electricals. Sellers show a valid state-issued photo ID before payment. Louisiana law bars cash for insulated and bare copper and for aluminum or copper radiators unless the seller holds a business license, so those loads are paid by check after a 5-day hold and mailed to the address on the ID. Staff help unload and loan out PPE. Asbestos, radioactive material, PCBs, CFCs, and live ordnance are refused.

I’ve been selling my metal at EMR Port Allen for over 10 years and it’s hands down the best place around. Jaci will answer the scale phone when you get there and treat you better than you even deserve. Can I only give 5 stars?
