In 2022 DTG Recycle closed off access to 80 acres of land at Rocky Top including several popular hiking trails. The company claimed that the closure was necessary for safety reasons but many people believe that it was actually done to prevent public scrutiny of its landfill operations. The closure of the Rocky Top trails has been a major blow to the local community. The trails were a popular destination for hikers mountain bikers and trail runners. The closure has also made it more difficult for people to access other recreational areas in the area. DTG Recycle is a company that does not care about the environment or the communities it operates in. The company has a history of environmental violations and has shown no regard for the public interest.
