The center is open Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm and Saturday 8am to 11am.

What can I recycle at the Prairie Grove center?

Accepted items include aluminum, steel, and aerosol cans; corrugated cardboard; paperboard; glass of all colors; paper such as newspaper, magazines, junk mail, and mixed paper; softback and hardback books; plastic bottles only; motor oil; electronics; batteries; Freon items; clothing and other clean fabrics; car seats; and Rubbermaid or Sterilite bulk storage bins. They also accept non-Freon appliances and scrap metal for free.

Is there a fee for scrap metal and appliances?

Non-Freon appliances and scrap metal are accepted for free. Barbed wire and chain link fence are not accepted as scrap metal at this time, but they can be disposed of at the transfer station for a fee.

Can I drop off food waste?

Yes. You can bring plate scraps, prep waste, uneaten leftovers, banana peels, coffee grounds and filters, and more to the recycling center in Prairie Grove. Empty it into the red cart at the front of the building. The food waste is collected by Food Recycling Solutions and composted at the Fayetteville Compost Facility. Free 3.5-gallon food waste buckets are available.

What are the hours?

Monday through Friday from 7am to 3:00pm, and Saturday from 8am to 11:00am.

As a resident of PG I appreciate the low cost and the friendly employees. I've lived in smaller Arkansas communities where you have to drive hours for waste disposal so it makes me appreciate the convenience of this facility. Keep up the good work folks.

Such a better facility than the transfer station in Fayetteville. Easy to navigate and the people are nice. I’ll gladly take the extra time to give my business here.

Weekend Hours are a joke! They close at 11am on Saturdays. What kind of public service is that? (I have been there several times before 11am and they have already closed the gates.)
