About This Center

Alpena Recycling Center, operated by the Northeast Michigan Materials Management Authority, offers recycling services to businesses and non-residents in Alpena County. Business memberships can be purchased for $360 for in-county businesses and $540 for out-of-county businesses, while out-of-county residents can buy a permit for $60. The center no longer accepts household garbage, boats, or hot tubs, directing individuals to the MOA Landfill in Atlanta. Unfortunately probably because of staffing and resource issues they aren't able to empty the Ossineke plastic and can bin often enough for it to be usable. Every time I've been there over the last several months (not exaggerating) it has been so full I couldn't get anything in there. If you are here for the summer and rushing over to fill it up every day they empty it please remember there are retirees here who also need to use it and may find the trip out M-32 a bit arduous (think people with cancer and on chemo for example). Please be kind and pace out how much you out in at one time so others can take advantage of this service also.
