132 Race St

315-339-7774

The City Yard at 132 Race Street is the working base for Rome's Department of Public Works: snow plowing, street sweeping, pothole repair, roadside mowing, and the city's green waste and brush removal program all run out of this facility, along with waste transfer and demolition of condemned buildings. Residents call the yard about street, leaf, and brush pickup issues. Electronics are not dropped at Race Street. The city's e-waste drop-off site is the Western Transfer Station at 575 Perimeter Road, which handles only e-waste questions. Paint, gasoline, kerosene, thinner, used oil, and other household chemicals go to the Oneida-Herkimer MERF plant at 80 Leland Avenue in Utica, free for Oneida and Herkimer County residents.
