Jim and Kristina Bernath run Bernath Recycling at 4045 3rd Ave N in Fargo. The locally owned yard buys scrap metals, batteries, and electronics. Purchase grades include aluminum cans and cast, car wheels, brass, copper, radiators, stainless steel, lead, electric motors, insulated wire, and steel from sheet iron to prepared plate and structural. Complete cars that still hold rims, a battery, a radiator, and the original catalytic converter are graded apart from incomplete cars. Rail scrap requires proof of ownership. Air-conditioning units are accepted only after the freon is removed.
