Bailey Compost operates on the Bailey family farm in the Snohomish River Valley, where the family has farmed since 1913. The site takes clean green waste, including leaves, small branches, grass clippings, plant material, and brush, then ages, aerates, and screens it into finished compost. The Washington Organic Recycling Council gave the operation its Composting Excellence award in 2017. Yard waste drops off for a per-yard fee, and loads with sod, dirt, stumps, branches over 6 inches across, rocks, or plastic are rejected. Finished compost is available for pickup at the farm or by local delivery with a 6-yard minimum. Hours run Monday through Friday and Saturday morning.

Girard Resources & Recycling crushes broken concrete and asphalt from residential and commercial construction jobs into aggregate and sells it back, alongside rock, sand, gravel, bark, mulch, compost, and topsoil. The Snohomish yard on 92nd Street SE is one of three, with sister yards in Covington and Lacey, and the company dates to 2005. Recycled asphalt comes out black, dust-free, and compacts well, and its 1 1/4 inch minus grade is the top seller for gravel driveways and potholes. The Covington and Snohomish yards are approved on the Washington State Department of Transportation Qualified Products List for recycled concrete aggregate, and the 1 1/4 inch minus meets the WSDOT crushed surfacing base course specification. Girard also lists delivery with its own dump trucks, tipping, container rental, and onsite land clearing.

425-379-9933

Mon-Fri 7 AM-5 PM; Sat 8 AM-4 PM

Riverside Topsoil sits on the banks of the Snohomish River on Lowell-Snohomish River Road, between Everett and Snohomish, and sells topsoil, bark, rock, sand, concrete and asphalt to homeowners and contractors. Its recycling yard takes material from both groups for a dump fee: clean green yard waste, mixed yard waste, stumps and wood rounds, wood chips and sawdust, clean topsoil and mud, mixed dirt loads, cow and horse manure, and concrete with or without rebar, plus asphalt. The yard states it is not a garbage dump. Trash, treated wood and dimensional lumber are turned away, and unacceptable loads left on site draw a fine. Hours run Monday through Saturday, and delivery reaches most of Snohomish, King and Skagit counties.
