What are the landfill's hours?
The landfill is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (same summer and winter hours).
Where is the Williston Landfill located?
The landfill is at 5176 134th Avenue NW, Williston, ND 58801. The Public Works office is separate, at 1121 5th Street East.
Does the landfill accept scrap metal and batteries?
Yes. Metal such as pipe, wire, cable, iron, bikes, and metal appliances must be separated into the designated METAL area (North Dakota law requires metal separation). Lead-acid and lithium batteries are accepted for recycling in the designated BATTERY area, but batteries must first be removed from toys, computers, and other items.
How are loads charged, and do I need to cover my load?
Charges are weight-based at the scale. Separated loads are billed at $25.00 a ton, while mixed MSW loads are $45.00 a ton. All loads must be secured with a tarp or tie-down straps, or a $25.00 fee applies on the first offense ($50.00 thereafter).

I DROVE FROM AN HOUR AWAY TO GET HERE FOR THEM TO BE CLOSED EARLY yes I checked ALLL closing times and made sure to get here over 15 minutes before the earliest "closing" time at 11:45am despite google saying they close at 1:30 on Saturdays. SERIOUSLY are you kidding me what is so important that you have to close only 15 minutes early?

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the service provided by the public landfill. This is not the first time I have encountered issues with this facility. Their operational inconsistencies such as closing early and operating on arbitrary schedules are unacceptable. The hours posted on Google do not align with their actual operating times leading to confusion and inconvenience. On my most recent visit I was compelled to wait an additional thirty minutes as the landfill prioritized their own trucks over mine disregarding the supposed opening time. This blatant disregard for customers' time is deeply frustrating. It is evident that the landfill operates with a mentality akin to that of an unaccountable government entity seemingly forgetting that it is the public who ultimately funds their operations. While I acknowledge the gate attendant's professionalism I must point out that the main loader operator's conduct was unacceptable and unprofessional. This level of service is not what one would expect from a public facility and I urge the management to address these issues promptly.

Horrible hours. Terrible service. Lazy workers who like to close early. And today when I went out there I was told they were not taking light loads?? Complete waste of my time. Cannot say enough bad things about this place
