The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Waite Park accepts unused household products that are dangerous, toxic, or flammable and shouldn't go in the trash. How does the drop-off work?

Enter the gate and follow the signs for the drive-through drop-off. Place all items except sharps in the trunk or very back of your vehicle; keep sharps in the front seat with the driver. Inside the drive-through, turn off your vehicle and stay seated while staff unload your items.

This is a fantastic way to get rid of paint antifreeze oil household batteries and more. It's my second time here and I didn't like it so much the first time. The building is all the way to the back of 5th Ave South. It's on the right and it has a couple flags in front. A gate will open and you follow the signs to the dropoff location. Great option to drop off old paint & chemicals - But don't waste time running to the "Free" store - it's an empty room. Not a single person to talk to - Clearly I'm missing something with this opportunity.

Great service for disposing of paint and other household chemicals. I love that they put usable products out for reuse in their small storefront. The best part is that they are free but the selection is typically small.
