The Ideal Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm, located off County Road 16 at the end of West Island Lake Drive, approximately 2.5 miles east of Hwy. 371 or 5.5 miles west of Ideal Town Hall. A yearly permit costing $15 is required for access, allowing users to bring items for recycling, yard waste for composting, and brush. The facility accepts clean plastic, newspaper, glass, tin, aluminum for free recycling, but household garbage in recycling bins can lead to permit revocation. Hazardous waste like paint, solvents, and aerosol cans can be disposed of for free with a completed survey form. Yard waste like leaves, grass clippings, and garden cleanup is accepted, with permit holders entitled to one free small load per year. Items not accepted include hypodermic needles, fluorescent bulbs, heavy equipment tires, and concrete. The station reserves the right to refuse service, and all charges are at the attendant's discretion. Visitors are advised to check in with the attendant before unloading items to avoid fines for illegal dumping. Contact John Bilek, the town clerk, or any supervisor for questions or comments.
