Starkey Road Recycling Center
About This Center
Effective June 17, 2024, The City of Largo is updating the operating hours of the Starkey Road Drop-Off Recycling Center to promote sustainability and efficient city operations. The new facility hours will be Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 4:30pm, Saturday from 7am to 11:30am, and closed on Sundays and observed city holidays. This change comes as a response to increased contamination incidents, illegal dumping, and limited resources for monitoring the site 24/7. The facility previously operated around the clock but will now have supervised hours to encourage responsible recycling practices and prevent improper disposal of non-recyclable items like furniture, tires, electronics, and construction debris. The City of Largo emphasizes the importance of proper waste disposal and offers curbside, multifamily, and business collection services as alternatives. For more information on waste disposal guidelines, recycling inquiries, or holiday collection schedules, individuals can contact the City of Largo’s Solid Waste Division at 727-587-6760 or visit LargoRecycles.com.

Why wasn't the gate unlocked and open?!? This is Saturday at 10:45am. Plus 2 other people were there as well. Everyone was mad as hornets!! Do better Largo!!

They just put in a gate which I'm sure helps with people dumping trash but when you close at 4:30 you completely eliminate the working public. I can't take time off in the day because I need to take my recycling and I can't bring my cans with me to work. Who's bright idea was this? And on Saturday after working all week sure let me get there before 11:30. Again the only people who are going to be recycling are the oldsters who stuff it full of Styrofoam and plastic bags and unbroken down boxes. Why even pay for this public service?

The employees there don't check your cars and verify what you deposit in the containers. Cameras can prevent illegal dumping.
