About This Center
Set Out Reminder: All trash, recycling, and yard waste must be set out to the curb by 7:00 am on your collection day. Please bag all trash to keep essential workers safe. The SOCRRA Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) offers a tour video showcasing how recyclables are processed. Visitors can utilize the Waste Wizard online directory to learn how to properly recycle or dispose of various materials. Effective March 31, 2025, Spurt Industries will manage and operate SOCRRA’s compost site. The Recycling Drop-off Center is open by appointment only, with no appointments needed for garbage disposal. A new feature includes Saturday appointments twice a month, with appointment times becoming available two weeks in advance. Appointments cover recycling, household hazardous waste, electronics drop-off, and paper shredding. Garbage disposal does not require an appointment but has limited hours. Visitors are encouraged to review the list of items no longer accepted at SOCRRA’s Drop-off Center. Stay up to date by signing up for SOCRRA's monthly e-newsletter and following them on Facebook.

Note that some of the employees can be a bit on the grumpy side but I probably would be too if I had to stand outside all day in the cold snow wind heat sun and / or rain. Friday appointments can be hard to come by unless you're willing to wait a week or two. Also watch for debris in the parking lot as I've had a couple of screws and nails in my tire the next day probably not a coincidence.

Second the number of available appointments each day is very limited—the soonest I could find is over a week away. Why is it necessary to require appointments for small household waste? What’s the reason for such limited availability? And why not allow people to drop off certain items anytime like the recycling bins provided by some local shops?

They accept metal cardboard boxes most plastic electronic devices and other miscellaneous stuff. It is extremely organized and pretty clean. The people here are very helpful and very courteous. Every city in America should have a place like this. I can't wait for it to reopen again.
