About This Center

San Jose Metals, Inc. is a private, independently run family business serving San Jose and the Greater Bay Area for 30 years. They pride themselves on organization, cleanliness, and accuracy, offering scrap recycling services for nonferrous, ferrous metals, car batteries, and all CA CRV beverage containers. Operating from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday, they are the only scrap recycling facility open 60 hours a week in Northern California. Customers must separate materials before arrival for quick processing and payment. Identification is required for selling scrap metal or over 100 CA CRV beverage containers. San Jose Metals does not require glass separation by color, and they have limits on the amounts of aluminum cans, plastics, and glass they can purchase. They accept various nonferrous metals like copper, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel but do not take cardboard, TVs, appliances, or catalytic converters. Not to mention from what heard i believe this is maybe one of two recycling centers left that still takes cans! Kind of a busy street to have the entrance to a recycling center at. Also lots of less fortunate men and women carrying their bags on bicycles.

toe biz (1/5 stars, 12 months ago): Yea this place is NOT the one. I come here every so often and I really don't know why. They'll take the caps off the plastic bottles. Plus the scales are not connected to any type of tracking or monitoring system and you can't see the total weight for yourself. Then quickly dump it into the large container. They just write some random numbers on a piece of paper that you're supposed to believe is the actual weight and hand it to the girls behind the cage. Another of the unhoused people in the neighborhood come to this place and I believe this place tries to take advantage of them by not giving them the true weight and value really just ripping everyone off.
