About this center
Maurice Sclar founded Reliable Recycling Center in 1918 as Reliable Junk Company, and the Sclar family still runs it from 8005 Reichs Ford Road in Frederick, where it moved in October 2011. The yard pays cash for most ferrous and non-ferrous metals, clean cardboard, and most electronics, with prices that move with the market.
Staff will not touch bagged or loose aluminum cans, which customers dump into the yard's machine. Fuel tanks must be cut in half or holed, sealed units drained or soldered shut, and hydraulic cylinders drilled top and bottom. Plastic, glass, wood, tires, televisions, computer monitors, and propane tanks are refused. Roll-off containers and pickup handle larger loads for customers across Frederick and Montgomery counties.
