Montessa Park Convenience Center
About This Center
Trash and recycling collection services in the City of Albuquerque include guidelines for residents to keep their trash and recycle carts properly maintained and placed for collection. Carts should have lids fully closed, not be overfilled, set out by 7 a.m., and removed within 24 hours. They should be placed at least five feet away from other objects for easy access by collection trucks. Specific instructions include not placing hot ashes or coals, hazardous waste, medications, construction or demolition waste, or waste containing free liquids in the carts. Sharps must be placed in a hard plastic container labeled "Contains Sharps." Green waste is accepted in the regular trash collection bin. Trash is collected weekly on designated days, with holiday schedules causing a one-day delay. Residents can request a replacement trash cart for free if lost, stolen, or damaged, with additional replacements incurring a fee. Special assistance pickups are available for elderly or disabled residents with a doctor's certification. New residents receive one 96-gallon cart for trash and one for recycling, with services initiated by contacting the Solid Waste Management department. Uncontained trash pick-up for excess garbage or yard waste not fitting in the cart can be scheduled for a fee. Residents can also request to stop service or report missed pickups. Lauren Kostelnick (4/5 stars, 3 months ago): I tried calling to find out if they take drywall or construction waste no one answers and the line asks for a passcode. I checked the website but it was not clear. So we drove there to find out that they don’t take construction waste and many other things. I’m leaving a photo of the lists of do’s and don’ts to help anyone else trying to find a place to dump drywall. We ended up going out to pajarito dump.

Not sure why this is closed but now everyone dumps on the mesa or in the arroyo because no one looks at hours of operation before heading to the place.. also they don’t let you in after 4:30pm so you can be done when they close at 5pm.. the city needs to fund 7 days open and and time after 5pm for people to finish unloading. It’s way more expensive to clean all the trash from the mesa and it’s possibly hazardous to the groundwater having this closed with increased illegal dumping. This location is out of the way in a not heavy traffic area it’s easier for people to get away with dumping illegally and therefore it should be open every day of the week like other locations.
