Frequently asked questions
What metals does Al's Metal Recycling buy?
They buy all metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, cast iron, iron, steel, stainless steel, lead, carbide, cans, batteries, catalytic converters, electric motors, compressors, lighting ballast, appliances, and automobiles.
How do I find out current scrap prices?
Prices change with the volatile metals market, so they ask you to call 405-702-IRON (4766) or stop by to verify current pricing.
Do they separate copper grades?
Yes. They take time to separate and grade copper into categories such as #1, #2, and the various insulated wire grades, which can pay up to 75% more per pound than low-grade pricing.
Is Al's Metal Recycling locally owned?
Yes, it is a locally owned and operated family business serving the OKC metro.

Poor direction for somebody new at sorting scrap. Pulled up to the front told the person that I had sorted scrap metal where do I take it. Was told to drop it off in the back so I did. Then I went across the scales and they put me down for unsorted scrap and paid me on that. Had 500 lb of aluminum sheet metals and copper. Told the person at the counter what happened and he had no reasonable explanation. Called a manager to tell them the issue and they could care less about it. Told me I could come back and grab the separated metal and put it in the separation bins that I was not told to go to. When I came back all the metal was pushed on top of the hill that I had no access to grab. So I am out time and money sorting these metals out taking appliances apart for $40 that should have been $300 plus. Very poor experience staff and management.

Site states they accept refrigeration equipment will need a copy of a contractor license. Showed this to them and they stated I will also need to fill out paperwork. When I went inside to talk to the big guy he didn’t even let me finish asking about the paperwork before he just kept telling me he won’t be taking my scrap at this time. Response to Al's: So you don't think the EPA is over HVAC units too? I am a licensed technician able to use "refrigeration recovery machines" but you didn't care to even ask for any of that information you just responded with. Just a short and sweet "we are not taking refrigerators at this time." So you DO deserve a 1 star review for your customer service.

Those guys and girls that work up there are Non-Stop. Everyone is very helpful and does not mind taking time to make your material worth more than what you thought. The management is very super cool and helpful. I don't go to scrap yards a lot but I will definitely be going to this one. From the lowest guy at the small scales to the guy running the crane to the owner everyone has excellent knowledge of what's going on and what things are. Keep up the good work y'all....
